PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND INFORMATION SESSIONS FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATORS
This professional learning series is designed to strengthen the knowledge, confidence, and day to day practice of early childhood educators through practical, evidence informed workshops grounded in child development.
The series aims to build educator capability, deepen understanding of children’s needs, and provide simple, effective strategies that can be embedded naturally into play based learning and early childhood environments. You can purchase either one workshop on its own or we can offer multiple workshops to suit your space and staff.
-
Participants will have a solid understanding of developmental milestones for children aged 0-6 years. They will be equipped with practical tools and strategies to support and enhance motor, cognitive, social-emotional, and language development, ensuring children reach their full potential.
-
By the end of the workshop, educators will have a strong understanding of sensory processing and how it impacts children’s learning and behaviour. They will leave with practical, developmentally informed strategies they can confidently use to support regulation, participation, and wellbeing across the preschool day.
-
Participants will learn about the critical role of primitive reflexes in laying the foundation for higher-level motor skills and sensory-motor integration. The workshop also discusses the potential consequences of retained primitive reflexes on development and learning, such as delays in motor coordination and attention difficulties. Techniques to identify the presence of primitive reflexes and evidence-based exercises to facilitate their integration are provided.
-
Through practical examples and real world scenarios, the session highlights how educators can use their tone, body language, language cues, and relationship based strategies to help children feel safe, settled, and supported during play and daily routines. Educators learn simple ways to embed co regulation into transitions, group times, outdoor play, and moments of challenge, while still honouring children’s autonomy and playfulness.
-
This workshop helps early childhood educators understand children’s behaviour as a form of communication, shaped by their developmental stage, sensory needs, emotional capacity, and emerging skills. Instead of viewing behaviour as “good” or “challenging,” educators learn to interpret what a child may be trying to express and which underlying developmental factors may be influencing their actions.
-
Real world examples and hands on ideas help educators embed UDL principles into everyday practice, supporting children with a wide range of developmental, sensory, cultural, and communication needs. Educators leave with practical, inclusive strategies they can apply immediately to create flexible, supportive learning environments where all children feel safe, capable, and ready to engage.
-
Practical, classroom ready strategies are introduced to help children build social awareness, understand social cues, and navigate expectations with greater confidence. The workshop focuses on developmentally appropriate, relationship centred approaches that educators can embed naturally throughout the day.
-
Educators also learn how trauma informed practice aligns with play based learning, inclusive practice, and the creation of calm, supportive environments where all children can thrive. Educators leave with a compassionate understanding of trauma informed practice and a toolkit of practical strategies to create safe, predictable, and nurturing learning environments that support every child’s wellbeing and participation.
-
Practical techniques are demonstrated to help educators recognise when children may need extra support and how to make simple adjustments to materials, posture, and the environment to promote success. The session also covers ways to build writing confidence through sensory motor play, fine motor stations, and intentional teaching moments woven into play.
-
The workshop provides practical, realistic strategies to help educators promote healthy screen habits, including ways to support balanced routines, encourage meaningful offline play, and communicate effectively with families about screen use. The importance of consistent adult modelling and collaborative approaches is also highlighted.
The LSG Parent Workshop Series is designed to empower families with clear, practical strategies that support children’s development, participation, and wellbeing in the early years. Each workshop translates clinical knowledge into everyday language, giving parents and caregivers the confidence to understand their child’s needs and respond in ways that strengthen connection, build independence, and reduce stress in daily routines. You can purchase either one workshop on its own or we can offer multiple workshops to suit your space and staff.
PARENT EDUCATION WORKSHOP SERIES
-
Participants learn how to make small, low cost adjustments at home or in early learning settings, such as creating calm corners, offering movement breaks, adjusting lighting, or using predictable routines. The workshop focuses on practical strategies for reducing stress during common “pressure points” of the day such as getting dressed, mealtimes, car trips, bedtimes, or transitions, so families feel confident supporting regulation and connection.
-
By the end of the workshop, educators will have a strong understanding of sensory processing and how it impacts children’s learning and behaviour. They will leave with practical, developmentally informed strategies they can confidently use to support regulation, participation, and wellbeing across the preschool day.
-
Parents learn simple, play based movement activities that support reflex integration, such as crawling sequences, rhythmic movements, bilateral coordination games, and deep pressure strategies. These activities are designed to fit naturally into everyday routines, making it easy for families to support their child’s motor foundations in a fun, developmentally supportive way.
-
Parents learn practical strategies including modelling social language, using visual supports, co regulating during tricky moments, and setting up simple guided play opportunities that build confidence. The focus is on helping children feel safe, connected, and capable in social situations, while giving adults tools to support positive peer experiences.
-
This workshop helps early childhood educators understand children’s behaviour as a form of communication, shaped by their developmental stage, sensory needs, emotional capacity, and emerging skills. Instead of viewing behaviour as “good” or “challenging,” educators learn to interpret what a child may be trying to express and which underlying developmental factors may be influencing their actions.
-
This compassionate workshop supports families of children who experience big feelings, sensory overload, or challenging behaviours. We help parents understand what sits beneath behaviour including sensory needs, emotions, communication differences, fatigue, or developmental expectations, and reframe behaviour through a strengths based, neuro affirming lens.
-
Parents learn practical tools for managing transitions on and off devices, choosing developmentally appropriate content, and encouraging richer offline play and connection. The focus is on balance and safety rather than restriction, so families feel confident using screens intentionally while protecting children’s wellbeing and developmental needs.
-
Parents learn practical strategies to build independence (e.g. packing bags, toileting, dressing), resilience (managing mistakes, problem solving), and confidence (asking for help, joining play). The workshop also provides guidance on creating predictable routines, supporting transitions, and building a positive mindset around starting school.
